France nabs five suspects in plotting terrorist attack

Five people have been detained in the French department of Meurthe-et-Moselle on suspicion of preparing a terrorist attack.

BFMTV reports citing a source that the anti-terrorist operation took place yesterday, December 22.

According to the TV channel, the French counterintelligence agency, the Directorate General of Internal Security, took part in the operation. All five suspects were taken into custody, the prosecutor's office said.

The detentions were carried out in the city of Nancy, the communes of Toul and Vandeuvre-les-Nancy. According to the law in France, due to suspicions of terrorism, the period of police custody can reach 96 hours, in case of imminent terrorist threat it can be extended up to 144 hours.
