Politico: France preparing for war with Russia

The Deputy Chief of the French Air and Space Force, Dominique Tardif, has emphasised the need to prepare the military for a potential conflict with Russia.

In an interview with Politico, Tardif noted that Moscow could “test NATO’s resilience” in 2028–2029, and in such a scenario, the French Air Force would be “on the front lines from day one” on the alliance’s eastern flank.

He highlighted that the Baltic states lack their own fighter aircraft, while Romania’s capabilities are limited.

According to Tardif, Western European countries, including France, must be ready for a potential “shock,” a term previously used by Chief of Defense Staff General Fabien Mandon.
