France prevents six terrorist attacks since early 2025 — interior minister
Six terrorist attacks have been prevented in France since the beginning of the year, while the threat of terrorism remains at a high level, French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez said in an interview with Le Parisien.
"The [terrorist] threat still exists. It is of a domestic nature, as there are people within the country who are influenced by Islamic State propaganda and move on to take action. We are also closely monitoring what appear to be sleeper cells. Since the beginning of the year, six terrorist attacks have been prevented," Nuñez said.
The minister noted that those arrested in terrorism-related cases increasingly include minors or young adults “who suffer from psychological problems.”
He added that in some cases analysts have observed the merging of seemingly unrelated radical movements, such as far-right activists and radical Islamists, “to which young people may be drawn not so much by ideology as by a fascination with violent acts.”
