France reaffirms support for Moldova’s European integration
French President Emmanuel Macron has reaffirmed France’s support for Moldova following the decisive expression of the Moldovan people’s will.
In a post on social media platform X, Macron highlighted France’s commitment to assisting Chisinau in its European integration efforts.
“Despite attempts at interference and pressure, the choice of the Moldovan people was decisive. France supports Moldova in its European project and its pursuit of freedom and sovereignty,” the French president wrote.
Malgré les tentatives d’ingérence et les pressions, le choix des citoyens moldaves s’est affirmé avec force.

La France est aux côtés de la Moldavie dans son projet européen et son élan de liberté et de souveraineté.
On Sunday, September 28, 2025, Moldovans voted in parliamentary elections overshadowed by concerns over Russian interference. The elections were widely seen as a pivotal choice between a pro-European trajectory and closer ties with Russia.
The Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS), led by President Maia Sandu, claimed a clear lead, winning 50.1% of the vote and securing an estimated 55 of 101 parliamentary seats, enough for a majority. The Patriotic Electoral Bloc (BEP), led by former President Igor Dodon, garnered 24.2%, while the Alternativa Bloc, Our Party, and the Democracy at Home Party also entered parliament.
Moldova’s diaspora played a decisive role, echoing last year’s presidential runoff where a majority of overseas voters supported Sandu. Despite claims of massive Russian interference, Sandu emphasised her country’s commitment to peace and European integration.
