France rules out fuel subsidies amid rising oil prices
09 March 2026 15:59
The French government is not considering subsidies despite the sharp increase in oil and gas prices caused by the Middle East conflict, government spokeswoman Maud Bregeon said.
She noted that it is “too early” to discuss subsidies for specific groups given the current energy market situation, though all scenarios are being considered, Caliber.Az reports, citing French media.
Earlier, Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu announced a plan for “500 inspections” at gas stations, to be carried out by antitrust authorities on March 9-11.
