France warns of fake tickets for 2024 Olympic opening ceremony
France's Directorate General for Competition, Consumption, and Combating Tax Evasion (DGCCRF) has alerted the public about fraudsters distributing counterfeit tickets for the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games, scheduled for July 26 along the Seine River.
According to TASS, these fraudsters are impersonating the official organizing committee of the games.
"We have recently been informed of fraud attempts: individuals and legal entities posing as Paris 2024 (the organizing committee) claim to be distributing free tickets to the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games in Paris in cooperation with the French National Olympic and Sports Committee, in exchange for payment of postage costs," the warning states.
The DGCCRF emphasized that the organizing committee does not send out paper tickets for the opening ceremony or for any competitions within the 2024 Olympic Games. Potential spectators are urged to be extremely cautious and avoid providing personal and banking information if there is any doubt about the authenticity of the communication.
