Buses carrying Palestinian prisoners recently released by Israel have arrived in Ramallah, the administrative centre of the Palestinian territories in the West Bank.
Al Jazeera reports that the arrivals mark the latest phase in a series of releases following the October 7, 2023, attacks.
The Palestinian Prisoners’ Affairs Committee confirmed that a total of 1,718 detainees from Gaza are expected to be freed. Among them are two women and 250 individuals who had been serving life sentences in Israeli prisons.
