French aircraft carrier to enter Mediterranean on March 7

The French aircraft carrier strike group led by Charles de Gaulle is scheduled to enter the Mediterranean on March 7, French Defence Minister Catherine Vautrin announced.

Vautrin noted that the carrier has departed Northern Europe and will pass through the Strait of Gibraltar late on March 6 into March 7, Caliber.Az reports via French media.

She emphasised that France’s operations are “strictly defensive” and are not linked to US and Israeli offensive actions against Iran.

Earlier, President Emmanuel Macron announced the deployment of Charles de Gaulle to support Cyprus and France’s Arab allies in the Persian Gulf.
