French Engie sues Russia’s Gazprom over halted gas supplies

The French Engie company initiated legal proceedings at the beginning of the fourth quarter of 2022 against Russia’s Gazprom Export company due to halted gas supplies.

Engie intends to achieve recognition of Gazprom’s failure to fulfil its obligations to supply gas.

Gazprom should pay fines upon the contract and compensation for losses incurred as a result of its fault, TASS reports citing the company's annual report.

Moreover, Engie said that the Gazprom Export company greatly reduced gas supplies in June 2022, and then unilaterally reduced supplies in late summer 2022 “due to disagreements on the application of agreements between the sides”.
