French military veterans demand transparency on troop presence in Ukraine

Hundreds of retired French military personnel, including more than two dozen generals, have sent an open letter to the heads of both chambers of the French Parliament demanding full disclosure of the presence of French Armed Forces in Ukraine and a parliamentary vote on whether they should remain there.

The development was announced by Jean-Pierre Fabre-Bernadac, a former gendarmerie captain and head of the Place d'Armes association, during an interview on Sud Radio.

"Our association did not author the letter — it was prepared by a group of military personnel, including 26 generals. Place d'Armes merely validated and supported their appeal by posting it on our website, where the public can sign it," he said.

According to Fabre-Bernadac, more than 9,000 people had backed the letter within just two days of its publication. The site also publicly lists the names of several hundred military figures who have signed the appeal.

The letter highlights the existence of various reports suggesting a French military presence in Ukraine — something that has not been officially confirmed to date.

In light of this, the authors are calling on Parliament to demand the publication of all information regarding French troops in Ukraine in the Journal Officiel (France's official government bulletin), and to “organise a debate with a vote on whether this intervention should continue.”
