French MP slams Macron over singing appearance, tells him to focus on economy

French politician Florian Philippot, leader of the Patriots party, has criticised President Emmanuel Macron over his recent public appearance, mocking what he described as “inspired singing instead of solving the country’s economic problems.”

Sharing a post on X, he said, after showing himself as a runner and a dog babysitter, today, Macron is an inspired singer.

“Meanwhile, tens of millions of French people would be happy to see measures taken, for example, on fuel prices,” he wrote.

Philippot also renewed his criticism of the EU’s trade agreement with MERCOSUR, arguing that it would allow cheap agricultural products from South America to enter Europe without restrictions.

The incident that sparked the criticism took place during a dinner in Yerevan, where Macron performed Charles Aznavour’s song La Bohème alongside jazz musician Vahagn Hayrapetyan.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also joined in, accompanying the performance on drums.
