French police arrest 32 suspected arsonists as fires spread

French authorities have detained more than 30 people on suspicion of arson as wildfires continue to burn across parts of the country, Interior Minister Laurent Nunez said.

“32 people in 22 departments have been detained on suspicion of arson,” Nunez wrote on X.

He condemned the suspected acts, warning that they put the lives of firefighters at risk.

Wildfires are affecting several regions in southern France. As of July 10, approximately 25,000 hectares of forest had been burned nationwide.
