French president rules out bombing as way to change power in Iran VIDEO

French President Emmanuel Macron maintained that airstrikes against Iran would not bring about regime change in the country.

Speaking in an interview with US broadcaster ABC, he stressed that preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons remained the main objective, before arguing that bombing would not alter the country’s political leadership, Caliber.Az reports.

“I think making sure that Iran will not get a nuclear weapon is very important for all of us. So for me this is the main objective. Having a regime change by bombing a country is not something I think is feasible, and for me, it's not a good option because it doesn't work and we did this mistake several times in the past decades,” the French leader emphasised.

He also noted that France could take part in an international operation to ensure freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz if it were strictly defensive in nature.
