French President Emmanuel Macron has stripped former Prime Minister François Fillon of the rights and privileges of a Grand Officer of the Legion of Honour for 10 years, Le Figaro reports.
The report said Fillon is barred for the same period from wearing the insignia of any French or foreign decorations administered by the Grand Chancellery of the Legion of Honour.
In addition, the former prime minister has been stripped for 10 years of the privileges of the National Order of Merit, in which he holds the highest rank of Grand Cross.
On June 17, 2025, the Paris Court of Appeal sentenced Fillon to four years' suspended prison time.
The court also fined him €375,000 and barred him from standing for election for five years.
