French president to embark on state visit to China for talks on trade
French President Emmanuel Macron will undertake a state visit to China from 3 to 5 December, it has been announced.
A spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry said the visit comes at the invitation of President Xi Jinping, Caliber.Az reports, citing Chinese media.
The two sides are expected to discuss the development of bilateral relations, trade and economic cooperation, the international agenda, as well as pressing global issues, ranging from security to climate initiatives.
According to the agency, the visit programme will also include President Macron’s participation in a number of official events and meetings with representatives of the Chinese leadership and business community.
The state visit comes against the backdrop of Paris and Beijing’s efforts to strengthen dialogue and coordinate positions on key international issues.
