Fuel shortage forced American Airlines flight to make emergency landing
19 July 2026 13:03
An American Airlines passenger plane was forced to divert its route over the United States due to a fuel shortage, according to Simple Flying.
The incident occurred on July 16 during a flight from Dallas to New York. About 30 minutes before the scheduled landing, the aircraft changed course and landed in Philadelphia to refuel.
Passengers were told that the delay would be brief. However, due to a crew change, they had to remain in the terminal for around five hours.
The aircraft eventually arrived at John F. Kennedy International Airport five and a half hours behind schedule. American Airlines representatives apologized to all passengers on board, acknowledging the disruption to the flight schedule.
