Gagauz leader urges Trump to halt support for Moldova’s government
The head of Gagauzia, Evghenia Gutul, has addressed an open letter to US President Donald Trump, urging him to withdraw financial support for the Moldovan government, particularly the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) and President Maia Sandu.
In a post on her social media account X, Gutul requested that Trump cease backing what she referred to as a "criminal regime" in Moldova, Caliber.Az reports.

As the Bashkan of #Gagauzia I’m asking you to stop any support for the criminal regime of #PAS and Maia #Sandu in the Republic of #Moldova.@realDonaldTrump @PressSec pic.twitter.com/wgZQgoysoZ
“Dear Mr. Trump, as the Bashkan of Gagauzia I’m asking you to stop any support for the criminal regime of PAS and Maia Sandu in the Republic of Moldova," Gutul wrote in her open letter.
Furthermore, Gutul called on Trump to support fair parliamentary elections in the country and accused Sandu and the ruling party of undermining state institutions and establishing a dictatorial regime.
The appeal follows growing tensions between Gagauzia and the central Moldovan government, with Gutul expressing concerns over the direction of political developments in the country.
