Gas reserves in European storage facilities approach 85 per cent
Europe continues pumping gas into its underground gas storage facilities.
The storages are already almost 85 per cent full given this year's target of 80 per cent, which had to be reached by November 1, 2022, Report informs, citing the data of the Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE).
According to the data, as of September 14, European underground gas storage facilities are 84.71 per cent full.
The growth per day reached only 0.22 percentage points (p.p.), which is the minimum rate for this month. In total, the EU underground gas storage facilities now contain approximately 91.64 billion cubic metres of gas.
According to the GIE, 13 out of 18 EU countries with full gas storage facilities have exceeded an 80 per cent target set in Europe following a notable increase in gas exchange prices.
The matter rests in Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain and Sweden. There are 27 EU states, therefore, not all of them have underground gas storage facilities.
The storages usually provide 25-30 per cent of the gas which is consumed in Europe in winter, the European Commission reported in summer.
