Gaza’s Health Ministry: Over 30 Palestinians killed in latest Israeli strikes
Gaza’s Health Ministry has said that over 43,500 Palestinians were killed and nearly 102,700 injured as a result of Israeli military actions since the beginning of the Israeli military operation in the Gaza Strip last October.
"The death toll from Israeli actions in Gaza has risen to 43,508, with 102,684 others injured," the ministry said in its statement, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
The ministry also noted that in the past 24 hours, 39 Palestinians were killed and 123 others were wounded due to Israeli airstrikes and artillery bombardments.
Earlier, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) released a report stating that nearly 70 per cent of those killed in the Gaza Strip were women and children. The report further noted that OHCHR staff had been able to verify information for only 8,119 deaths in Gaza between November 2023 and April 2024.
The situation in the Middle East escalated dramatically after infiltration by armed supporters of the Palestinian radical group Hamas from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory on October 7, 2023. The attack was marked by the killing of residents in border towns and the kidnapping of over 240 hostages. In response, Israel launched a military operation in the enclave aimed at dismantling Hamas' military and political infrastructure and rescuing all the abducted individuals. The fighting in the Gaza Strip continues up till now.
