GCC envoys meet Russian officials over Iranian attacks
On March 4, 2026, ambassadors of the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) met in Moscow with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Georgy Borisov.
According to TASS, the delegation was headed by Ahmed Abdulrahman Al Saati, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Russia. Bahrain currently holds the rotating chairmanship of the Council.
During the meeting, the ambassadors presented the Russian side with a copy of a statement adopted at an extraordinary session of the GCC Ministerial Council addressing what the bloc described as Iranian aggression against its member states.
The discussions focused on the security situation in the Persian Gulf and Russia’s role, as a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, in supporting efforts to bring an end to the Iranian attacks. Participants noted that the strikes have resulted in significant material damage and human casualties, including impacts on critical civilian infrastructure.
