General Staff: Ukraine, US agree on four-part military support document

03 January 2026 17:57

Ukraine and the United States have finalised a joint military document comprising four main sections and accompanying appendices, following bilateral work at the level of the two countries’ general staffs.

According to UNIAN, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Andriy Gnativ, announced the development during a briefing. He said that intensive coordination had taken place between Kyiv and Washington, resulting in an agreed framework covering key areas of military cooperation.

“Bilateral work has been carried out with the United States of America at the level of general staffs. A military document consisting of four sections and four appendices has been agreed upon... All these sections are about how support will be provided to Ukraine and the country's Armed Forces, how they will be supplied and modernised, as well as how compliance with the agreements will be monitored and how to respond in case of non-compliance,” Gnativ stated.

He added that similar efforts are ongoing with other international partners supporting Ukraine. According to Gnativ, one of the sections of the document specifically addresses the activities of the “coalition of the willing.”

During the same briefing, Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Serhiy Kyslytsya, emphasised that the documents related to security guarantees have been drafted in a manner that does not violate Ukraine’s constitutional foundations or its sovereignty. He noted that some of the documents are already fully completed, while others are close to finalisation.

According to Kyslytsya, the next critical step is the completion of national procedures in partner countries that have expressed readiness to support Ukraine within a short timeframe.
