The movement of heavy vehicles has been temporarily suspended on the section between the city of Vladikavkaz and the settlement of Lars on the Georgian Military Road in North Ossetia due to deteriorating weather in Georgia.
“Due to the deterioration of weather conditions on the territory of Georgia and the impossibility of ensuring safe passage of vehicles, as well as taking into account the recommendations of the Georgian border police, the movement of heavy vehicles in the section between the city of Vladikavkaz and the settlement of Lars in the direction of leaving the Russian Federation is prohibited from 02:20 December 6, 2023 until further notice,” the Main Directorate of the Russian Emergencies Ministry says, according to TASS.
The Georgian Military Road leads from Vladikavkaz to Tbilisi through the Main Caucasus Range, connecting Russia with Georgia and the rest of the Transcaucasian countries. On the Russian section, the route passes through North Ossetia. In winter, the road is often closed due to bad weather.
