Iranian top general doubtful about Israeli commitment to truce
Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi has expressed his doubts about the observance of the ceasefire by Israel, and warned of Tehran’s severe response to any new act of "aggression".
In a telephone conversation on June 29, Major General Mousavi and Defense Minister of Saudi Arabia, Khalid bin Salman Al Saud, talked about the bilateral and regional issues, including the 12-day war that the Israeli regime and the US imposed on Iran, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian media.
The top Iranian commander said the American and Israeli actions were taken against the Islamic Republic while Iran had shown self-restraint as indirect nuclear talks were being held between Tehran and Washington.
The 12-day war on Iran proved that the US and Israel do not honour any international rules and norms, the general stated.
“Since we are completely doubtful about the enemy honouring its commitments, including the ceasefire, we are prepared to give it a tough response in case of recurrence of an act of aggression,” Major General Mousavi warned.
He underlined that Iran was not the party that started the war, but responded to the aggressors with full force.
For his part, the Saudi defence minister said the kingdom has condemned the acts of aggression against Iran and has made efforts to stop the war.
He also offered his condolences to Iran over the martyrdom of a number of military commanders in the Israeli strikes.
The two officials called for constant consultations between Iran and Saudi Arabia to promote bilateral relations and ensure regional security and calm.
