Armenian court opens case against relatives of ex-security chief over illegal assets
On June 26, the Armenian Anti-Corruption Court initiated proceedings to confiscate allegedly illicit assets owned by the relatives of Karlos Petrosyan, former Director of Armenia’s National Security Service (NSS), at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office.
As reported by Caliber.Az with reference to Armenian media, the court has officially confirmed the launch of the legal process.
Among those named in the case are Petrosyan’s daughter, Astghik Petrosyan; his father-in-law, former Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Avet Adonts; Adonts’s two sons; and several other individuals.
Karlos Petrosyan led the NSS from January 1, 2003, to November 5, 2004. Before that, he held the post of Minister of National Security between November 13, 1999, and December 31, 2002.
Currently, he serves as an advisor to the director of the Russian state-owned oil pipeline company Transneft.
