Deputy PM: Italy should resume Russian gas imports after war

Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini has called for Italy to resume purchasing Russian gas once the war in Ukraine ends, while advocating negotiations and a diplomatic settlement of the conflict.

In an interview with Vesti and TASS, Salvini said energy prices were evidence of the costs associated with the current approach and suggested comparing today’s expenses with those incurred several years ago.

He also argued that the conflict should be resolved through diplomacy and negotiations rather than continued arms deliveries.

After the war ends, Salvini said Italy should work to restore its economic, trade and cultural ties with Russia.
