Iran rules out talks with Trump until Tehran’s conditions are met

15 September 2026 09:58

Iran’s Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Mohsen Rezaei has responded to US President Donald Trump’s statement that he was ready for dialogue, saying Tehran would not negotiate until its conditions are met.

In a post on X, he noted that Trump’s stance on negotiations had shifted from rejecting talks to expressing a willingness to engage, Caliber.Az reports.

“Don’t get distracted by the U.S. president’s mixed signals—from ‘no negotiations’ to ‘we’re ready to talk.’ The stakes around oil and the straits have changed. Damage control won’t stop what’s coming.

No talks until Iran’s conditions are met. Period!” Rezaei wrote.

Rezaei’s remarks came in response to Trump’s recent comments signalling that Washington remained open to engagement with Tehran. Trump stated that Iran “wants to make a deal, quickly and badly,” indicating that he believed Tehran was interested in reaching an agreement.

“I will determine whether or not the U.S.A. will choose to engage - The concept of which we are open to,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
