Kazakhstan’s ruling Adilet Party appoints three deputy chairmen PHOTO

Kazakhstan’s Adilet Party has appointed Askhat Oralov, Nursultan Baitilesov and Eldar Zhumagaziyev as deputy chairmen, Kazinform reports.

The appointments were made by order of the party chairman as part of changes to the party’s leadership.

Earlier, Aliya Adambayeva was appointed deputy chairwoman responsible for communications, Yerzhan Zhilkibayev was given responsibility for ideological affairs, and Kanysh Tuleushin was appointed to oversee digitalisation.

Kazakhstan’s newly formed Adilet party secured a landslide victory in the country’s early parliamentary election, winning 71.17 per cent of the vote in the August 23 poll.

The election was the first to the newly established 145-seat, single-chamber Kurultai, introduced under Kazakhstan’s new constitutional framework. Voter turnout reached 74.08 per cent, with 9.35 million people casting ballots.

Auyl finished second with 6.26 per cent, followed by Respublica with 5.56 per cent, Aq Zhol with 5.21 per cent and the Nationwide Social Democratic Party with 5.11 per cent. All five parties cleared the five-per-cent threshold for parliamentary representation.

The People’s Party of Kazakhstan received 3.11 per cent, while the Baitaq Green Party secured 1.07 per cent. Another 2.51 per cent of voters selected the “against all” option.

The result gives Adilet a dominant position in the new legislature and strengthens President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s political position.
