Over 100 forest fires hit Türkiye's Sakarya, Bilecik provinces
Over the past two days, 113 forest fire outbreaks have been recorded in Türkiye, six of which are still burning, according to Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Ibrahim Yumaklı.
“In the past two days, there have been 113 large-scale fires, of which only six forest fires remain,” Yumaklı said, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.
According to the minister, three of the fires pose the greatest threat due to the risk of further spread. As a precaution, two districts in Sakarya Province and 11 villages in Bilecik Province have been evacuated. More than 300 people have been moved out of the danger zone.
“By order of the governor, three individuals have been detained in connection with the possible cause of the fires,” Yumaklı added.
The minister noted that data on the scale of the damage will be published after the fires are fully extinguished.
