German authorities advise airlines to avoid Iranian airspace

German authorities have advised German airlines to refrain from flying through Iranian airspace “due to potential risks.”

The recommendation was reported by the Berlin Flight Information Region (FIR), which manages air traffic over parts of Germany.

“Aviation carriers registered in Germany are advised to avoid flights over Iran because of potential danger,” a source from the agency told TASS. The advisory is in effect until 10 February and has been communicated to all German-registered airlines.

On January 28, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that a massive naval armada is heading toward Iran. He expressed hope that Tehran would come to the negotiating table to reach a “fair and equitable” deal, which would involve a complete “renunciation of nuclear weapons.”

The President also recalled that in June of last year, the United States carried out strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities in an operation called Midnight Hammer. Trump warned that “the next attack will be far worse,” urging that steps be taken to prevent such an escalation.
