German chancellor urges EU to sustain support for Ukraine
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has said that the EU intends to maintain strong relations with the US during the administration of President-elect Donald Trump.
He noted that the EU is currently discussing its strategy regarding this key partner, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
"We will continue working well with the future US president. The question of how to achieve this was the subject of our discussions," Scholz said.
The chancellor also emphasised the importance of the EU maintaining its strength amid ongoing conflicts in Europe and the Middle East, ensuring its own security.
Scholz reiterated the EU's commitment to continuing its support for Ukraine.
Earlier, German Finance Minister Christian Lindner dismissed by Scholz, accused the chancellor of obstructing effective military assistance to Ukraine. Lindner claimed that Scholz had refused to send Taurus cruise missiles to Kyiv.
