The German Federal Commissioner for Jewish Life and the Fight against Antisemitism Felix Klein has praised Azerbaijan’s approach to maintaining interreligious harmony and ethnic diversity.
Speaking during a meeting with Ramim Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organisations of Azerbaijan, Klein expressed appreciation for state policies aimed at supporting interfaith harmony and protecting ethnic diversity, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
He highlighted strong conditions for the free activity of various religious communities in the country.
Mammadov said that representatives of different religions and cultures have lived in Azerbaijan for centuries in an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust, contributing to the country’s religious and cultural diversity. He also noted that out of 994 registered religious organizations in Azerbaijan, 38 belong to non-Islamic communities.
Klein also said that the absence of antisemitism in Azerbaijan stands out as a positive example, adding that the coexistence of different religious and ethnic groups in an environment of mutual respect represents a successful model.
