German counterintelligence agency investigates possible Russian eavesdropping
Germany's Federal Office for Military Counterintelligence (BAMAD) is investigating possible Russian eavesdropping on the communications of air force officials, including the deployment of Taurus missiles in Ukraine.
According to the DPA, the decision was taken after Russian propaganda media circulated reports about the alleged interception of a conversation between Bundeswehr officers in which they appeared to discuss in theory the transfer of Taurus missiles to Ukraine and the use of such weapons by the defence forces and possible strikes against occupying targets.
The Russian Foreign Ministry subsequently demanded that the German government clarify the situation.
In response, a representative of the German Ministry of Defence told journalists that BAMAD had taken "all necessary measures".
