German interior minister warns of rising drone threat to parliament
German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt has warned of a growing threat posed by drone activity near the country's parliament, amid an increase in reported sightings around the legislative complex.
Dobrindt raised the issue in a letter to Julia Klöckner, president of the German Bundestag, according to Rheinische Post.
The minister said that the number of drones detected in recent months has increased, prompting heightened vigilance among Germany’s security agencies.
“The protection of constitutional institutions is of particular importance in light of the current situation involving an abstract threat,” Dobrindt wrote in the letter.
The warning comes as authorities across Europe continue to assess security risks associated with unauthorised drone operations near sensitive government and critical infrastructure sites.
