German MEP De Masi files lawsuit against EU commission chief “She considers herself Louis XIV”
European Parliament member and co-chair of Germany’s BSW party (The Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance) Fabio De Masi has filed a lawsuit against European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, demanding disclosure of her contacts with defence companies.
In his filing, De Masi cites the European Parliament’s right to obtain information to exercise oversight over the Commission, arguing that von der Leyen violated her obligation to respond to parliamentary inquiries by refusing to provide full details of her interactions with arms manufacturers, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
“Ms. von der Leyen considers herself Louis XIV,” De Masi said, referring to the French monarch associated with absolute rule.
De Masi said he first requested full information in March 2025 on all contacts between the Commission president and weapons producers since mid-2024, adding that von der Leyen only replied in October 2025 with a response he described as delayed and overly general.
