German MP urges Taurus long-range cruise missile supplies to Ukraine

Christian Democratic Union (CDU) defence expert and Bundestag deputy Roderich Kiesewetter has said that allies should supply Ukraine with all weapons that the Ukrainian army will be able to use, including German-Swedish Taurus cruise missiles with a range of 500 kilometres.

He made the remarks in an interview with the editorial association Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland, TASS reports.

The MP said that Ukraine's partners currently "should go all in" and supply Ukraine with "everything that it can use to fight with the simultaneous use of different types of weapons and what is permissible from the point of view of international law".

According to him, Taurus cruise missiles with a range of up to 400-500 km would be a very useful contribution from Germany. According to the expert, there can be no more red lines in the issue of arms supplies.

According to Kiesewetter, about 600 Taurus missiles were purchased for the Bundeswehr 10 years ago, and only 150 of them are ready for operation, but he said that it would be more expedient to transfer them to Ukraine than to store them in Germany.

Taurus is considered an analogue of the British Storm Shadow, which has already been delivered to Ukraine.

To recap, Ukraine and Germany are strategic allies in many ways: they actively collaborate, and German assistance is critical in bringing Ukraine closer to the West and repelling the Russian invasion.
