German residents urged to prepare for hard times
Member of the German government's expert council on economic development Veronika Grimm said that the country's residents should prepare for hard times.
As Lenta.ru writes, she said this in an interview with the Funke media group.
Grimm emphasized that the German economy is in stagnation. Therefore, it is not so important whether the country is "just above or below the zero line". The expert noted that in times of very low or even negative growth, people have to prepare for difficulties. She specified that she was referring to "real losses" for citizens.
The expert added that what is happening in Germany is a serious challenge in the transformation phase - primarily in the political sphere. She also admitted that the situation with gas supplies in the country could worsen.
"There are still countries in Europe that buy Russian gas, and if supplies stop, we will have to rush to the rescue. What was peculiar to last winter will be peculiar to this one. And we can hope that everything will go relatively easily again," Grimm concluded.
