German shipping giant reports movement through Strait of Hormuz

Germany’s shipping company Hapag-Lloyd has confirmed that one of its vessels has crossed the Strait of Hormuz, though it provided no further details on the timing or circumstances of the passage, Iran International reports.

A spokesperson for the company said that the vessel had successfully transited the strategic waterway, which connects the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Oman.

The spokesperson also noted changes in the company’s regional operations, stating that four Hapag-Lloyd ships remain in the Persian Gulf, down from six previously. The reduction, according to the company, follows the expiry of a charter agreement and the subsequent departure of one vessel from its fleet.
