German special police officer dies in apparent training accident, police say

A member of Germany’s federal police special forces has died during a shooting exercise at a military training area in the north of the country, authorities have said.

Police said the incident took place on Monday (May 11) evening in Putlos, where the officer was taking part in a live-fire training session, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.

In a statement on May 12, investigators said initial findings suggest the shooting was an accident. A formal inquiry has been launched to establish the exact circumstances of the death.
