German top diplomat: Russia using hunger as weapon

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said that Russia is "using hunger as a weapon."

"Russia quite deliberately uses hunger as a weapon, taking the whole world hostage," the minister said at a briefing, expressing solidarity with the Ukrainian citizens and the "Global South," suffering because of the "grain war unleashed by Russia", Gazeta.Ru reports.

According to her, Moscow is trying to shift the blame for the sharp rise in food prices to others and is blocking ports in the Black Sea.

Baerbock added that the current situation is "highly dramatic."
