Germany announces date for Bundestag elections
The next Bundestag elections are set for September 28, 2025, following a recommendation from the Cabinet of Ministers.
The final decision will be made by the German president, who typically adheres to the government's recommendations, Caliber.Az reports citing the German media.
German law mandates that elections be held on a Sunday or public holiday.
The Federal Republic of Germany has two chambers: the German Bundestag and the Bundesrat. The Bundestag is the national parliament of the Federal Republic of Germany and is Germany’s legislative body according to the principle of the separation of powers. The Bundestag is the only directly elected constitutional organ and therefore enjoys a particular degree of democratic legitimacy. The Members of the Bundestag – 735 in total in the current 20th electoral term – meet in the Reichstag building.
