Germany arrests three on suspicion of spying
Germany’s Federal Prosecutor’s Office has said that German prosecutors arrested three people suspected of working for an unnamed foreign secret service.
Ukrainian national Robert A., Armenian national Vardges I., and Russian national Arman S. were said to be traveling to Germany on behalf of a foreign secret service to collect information on a Ukrainian who was staying there, Caliber.Az reports citing the foreign media.
On June 19, they scouted out a cafe in Frankfurt where the target person was supposed to be, the prosecutors’ statement said.
A judge ordered them kept in custody pending a possible indictment for working for a foreign secret service. In their statement, prosecutors didn't specify what country's intelligence agency the three are alleged to have spied for.
They said that the suspects were tasked with gathering information on a person from Ukraine in Germany, whom they didn't identify.
