Germany evacuates diplomats from northern Iraq

Germany has evacuated its diplomatic staff from the Consulate General in northern Iraq due to security concerns arising from the nearby war in Iran.

The foreign ministry has ordered the evacuation of workers deployed to Erbil on March 10, German media reports. 

According to the official statement on this situation, they have been temporarily relocated to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

German diplomats working at the embassy in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad had already been temporarily withdrawn earlier.
