Germany faces soldier shortage
The number of soldiers leaving the service in the Bundeswehr is growing for the second year in a row. 19,500 people left the service, 4,200 of which left ahead of schedule: this is the highest figure since 2017.
According to Lenta.ru, this is reported by the Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung, citing data from the German Federal Ministry of Defence.
According to the agency, the total number of personnel in 2022 decreased to 183,050 people. This is attributed to the "permanent disability" of the military. 18,766 people entered military service.
At the same time, the German government planned to increase the number of Bundeswehr to 203,000 soldiers by 2031. According to the Ministry of Defence, to achieve this goal, it is necessary to hire 21,000 people annually.
