Germany, France, UK stress no role in Iran strikes, urge dialogue
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, French President Emmanuel Macron, and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated that their countries did not participate in the strikes on Iran.
“We did not participate in these strikes, but are in close contact with our international partners, including the United States, Israel, and partners in the region. We reiterate our commitment to regional stability and to the protection of civilian life,” the joint statement read.
The Euro trio leaders also called for the resumption of negotiations on Iran’s nuclear programme.
The heads of state and government reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring stability and protecting civilians, stressing that the Iranian people have the right to determine their own future.
At the same time, the leaders of the three countries condemned the retaliatory strikes carried out by Iran on targets in neighbouring states.
