Germany intends to purchase Israeli unmanned submarines PHOTO

Germany and Israel are in advanced negotiations over the purchase of Israeli-made BlueWhale unmanned submarines by the German Navy.

According to Defence Network, the BlueWhale, developed by Israel Aerospace Industries, is capable of collecting intelligence using a telescopic mast—similar to a periscope—equipped with radar and electro-optical systems for detecting targets at sea and onshore.

The BlueWhale measures 10.9 meters in length, 1.12 meters in diameter, and weighs 5.5 tons. It is powered by an electric engine, can reach a speed of seven knots, and is capable of patrolling for at least ten days, depending on the mission profile and objectives.
