Germany, Israel launch energy partnership programme for green transition

Germany and Israel have officially launched the "German-Israeli Energy Partnership Programme 2025" at a ceremony held in Baku during COP29.

The event, which took place at Germany's pavilion, aims to further strengthen energy cooperation between the two nations, particularly in the areas of renewable energy sources and energy efficiency, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

The two countries plan to collaborate on initiatives promoting a "green" energy transition and combating climate change.

The programme is set to include the development of innovative projects and scientific research in the energy sector, focusing on sustainable solutions for the future.

Notably, the Conference of the Parties (COP) is the leading global forum of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), dedicated to tackling climate change.

Comprising 198 countries and the European Union, COP is the highest decision-making body on climate issues under the UNFCCC. The 29th session of COP (COP29) is currently underway in Baku, Azerbaijan, running from 11 to 22 November 2024.

This two-week global event has brought together heads of state, climate experts, political leaders, young people, and civil society representatives to collaborate on the pressing challenge of climate change.

As the world’s most significant climate conference, COP29 is serving as a crucial platform for negotiating international climate policies, advancing climate action, and fostering global cooperation to build a sustainable and resilient future.
