Germany looks at alternative routes to Druzhba pipeline, envoy says
Germany is considering alternative scenarios for securing oil supplies amid a possible suspension of transit of Kazakh oil via the Druzhba pipeline, Germany’s ambassador to Kazakhstan, Monika Iversen, has stated.
In an interview with Ulysmedia, she said Germany’s energy supply is not under threat, and the country is considering alternative scenarios, Caliber.Az reports.
According to her, there is greater concern that this decision simultaneously prevents Kazakhstan from receiving certain revenues from Russia.
“Of course, we would be glad if oil supplies from Kazakhstan to Schwedt continued. But this possibility depends not only on us and not only on Kazakhstan. We are currently analysing all possible options and alternatives. However, Germany does not yet see a serious economic threat,” Iversen added.
