Germany's Baerbock warns against Putin's tactics in Ukraine conflict
Germany's outgoing Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has expressed support for the United States' efforts to mediate between Russia and Ukraine, but cautioned against falling victim to the tactics of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Speaking on the sidelines of a climate conference in Berlin on March 26, Baerbock emphasized that genuine dialogue cannot take place when ceasefires are continually accompanied by new demands and concessions from Moscow, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
"It is also good that the United States is trying to take on a mediating role here. At the same time, we must not fool ourselves, and above all, we must not allow ourselves to be blinded by the Russian president," Baerbock stated.
Her remarks come amidst ongoing international efforts to resolve the conflict, with the United States playing a key role in facilitating discussions. However, Baerbock warned that peace initiatives risk being undermined if Russia continues to use ceasefires as a bargaining tool for further territorial or political concessions.
