Germany says US and Iran preparing for direct talks in Pakistan
German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul has said that the United States and Iran are preparing to hold a direct meeting in Pakistan in the near future, according to a report by The Times of Israel.
Wadephul indicated that preliminary engagement between the two sides has already occurred through indirect channels, with efforts now focused on organising a full in-person meeting.
“Based on the information available to me, indirect contacts have been established, and preparations are underway for a direct meeting. It appears this will take place very soon in Pakistan,” he told the German radio station Deutschlandfunk.
The German minister also argued that the conflict involving Iran has not been characterised by a shortage of weapons, but rather by communication gaps between the parties. He emphasised that Berlin intends to play a role in addressing this issue.
