Germany: Shots fired outside Bielefeld courtroom Multiple Injured
A major police operation is underway outside the Regional Court in Germany's Bielefeld after shots were fired near the courthouse, leaving several people injured.
The incident occurred shortly after the conclusion of hearing in the trial of the murdered boxer, Besar Nimani, Caliber.Az reports via German media.
Eyewitnesses say that multiple people were seen lying injured on the ground, with police officers attending to the victims. Emergency services have been dispatched to the scene, as confirmed by police to WDR.
According to witnesses, two individuals were in critical condition and required resuscitation. It is believed these victims were the father and brother of the accused in the Nimani case.
The shooting occurred shortly after the main proceedings ended, on a crossroads outside the courthouse. The trial, which began at 9:00 am, focuses on the killing of the 38-year-old boxer, Besar Nimani.
On the penultimate day of the trial, it was reported that Nimani’s sister had attempted to bring a knife into the courtroom but was stopped by security at the entrance. The weapon was seized by security personnel, as confirmed by the defendant’s lawyer.
